Flora + Fauna, meaning all plant and animal life, began with the shared dream of four individuals. We wanted to create a place with quality roasted coffee and food made from local and seasonal ingredients. A place you can come to often, with a casual environment and friendly people. A place where you can relax amongst the plants with a book or get lost in conversations with friends.

How It Started…

Hunter and Julia met in 2013 when they both worked for a local coffee company and quickly realized they both shared dreams of opening their own cafe one day. They have spent the last eight years learning the ins and outs of the coffee and restaurant industry. Somewhere along the way, they also got married and started a family.

Kristin and David have lived in East Nashville for the last 10 years. They love being part of the East Nashville community and supporting its local businesses. For a while, they’ve had the desire to become small businesses owners allowing them the ability to further engage with and support their community.

In 2020, the four of us decided to take the plunge together and become small business owners. We knew it would be a challenge but we had no idea what the next two years would have in store for us! Through all the setbacks and surprises, we held on to our vision of creating a cafe and coffee roaster and eventually found an ideal location in Highland Yards on Douglas Ave.

Our PHilosOphy

At F+F we believe in Stewardship. We believe it is our responsibility to take care of the people that work for us. We believe in paying a livable wage and creating a safe and inviting place for people to work. Our staff chooses to work with us; they have chosen to spend their time with us, and we have the responsibility to care for them while they do.

We believe in taking care of the earth. We believe in supporting local and regional producers who also care about the environment. We are intentional about our products trying to use as much of them as we can so there is little to no waste. We look to source sustainable packaging and try to help educate our staff and guests how they can reduce waste.

We know we are not perfect and we know we won’t get everything right but we are committed to learning and continuing to grow.

F+F is an extension of the four of us and what we want in this world; a place of connection, support and acceptance. We are truly thankful for your support whether you come in everyday for lunch, bought a bag of coffee, or liked a post on our social media.
